FNG Help Desk Baseball Outing

Angels vs. Mariners

July 9, 2005

A delegation from the FNG Help Desk team ventured into OC to attend an Angels game. There were more no-shows than actual participants, but those that took the trouble to attend (AHEM!) had a great time.

PLEASE NOTE: The pictures on this page are sized at a quality level higher than I usually post, meaning that this page will take a while longer to fully load than my picture pages usually do. I think the higher image quality will in this case be worth the added bandwidth consumption.

Yes, there was a baseball game going on, although at times the action on the diamond took a back seat to the interactions among us up in the stands.

There was a entry on the Jumbotron for "Fox Networks Group" among the alphabetical listing of groups attending the game. Next time I will buy the tickets with a more specific identity, like maybe "FNG Help Desk"...

During the course of the game I noticed FSN logos prominently emblazoned around the field. Since FSN is part of the IT universe we will soon be supporting, I plan to explore whether there's some leverage we can apply for getting seats to future games.

The Derrick Patterson delegation: Derrick, his wife Shanta, daughter Hailey and son Kerrick.

From right to left (instead of left to right): Alex, Alex's (and Joey's) nephew Preston and Alex's girlfriend Celeste.

Preston seemed dubious about his interest in the game -- this picture is perhaps the most animated we saw him all evening.

Alex and Joey's other nephew, Christian, getting downright medieval on a slice of pizza.

Joey and Roberta point the way.

Celeste notices that Preston just isn't convinced about all this commotion.

Roberta, Joey, Christian and Alex & Joey's friend Jose.

Derrick caught in an "action" shot.

Dana and me. The flash makes us look almost superimposed on the field background...

Christian and Joey getting serious about the game. (Yeah, I know, the home team lost...)

The perfect formula for having fun with nieces and nephews: take 'em out, pump 'em full of sugar and drop them off at home when you're done. Joey has it figured out.

Derrick's daughter Hailey, at 10 months, is taking it all in equally, whether it's the Jumbotron, the fireworks or the people around her.

Kerrick and Derrick.

The Valle contingent: Celeste, Alex, the now-sleeping Preston, Jose, Roberta, Christian and Joey.

Alex, Dana, me and Joey.

And finally, Hailey the "Energizer Bunny" who I think ultimately outlasted all of us...
